Ingredients
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup cocoa powder
2 cups sugar
2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1 cup vegetable oil
3 large eggs
2 cups buttermilk
2 tsp vanilla extract
Black gel food coloring
Orange, purple, and black buttercream frosting
Candy eyeballs, gummy worms, sprinkles
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line three 8-inch cake pans.
2. Whisk flour, cocoa, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
3. Add oil, eggs, buttermilk, and vanilla; mix until smooth.
4. Divide batter among pans, add black food coloring.
5. Bake 30–35 minutes. Cool completely.
6. Stack cakes with buttercream between layers.
7. Frost cake with orange, purple, and black buttercream.
8. Decorate with candy eyeballs, gummy worms, and sprinkles.
9. Chill 30 minutes before serving.
Notes
Use a piping bag for multicolor frosting. Add dry ice nearby for spooky fog.
